4:05 PM ET – Newt Gingrich, Former Speaker of the House and author of yet another NY Times’ bestseller, Trump’s America: The Truth about Our Nation’s Great Comeback, is watching what transpired on the House floor last night between Freedom Caucus Representative Mark Meadows of North Carolina and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan. Meadows has finally had enough of the roadblocks and RINO tactics being used by Paul Ryan, and he speaks for most true conservatives who are disgusted by his party politics and appeasement tactics of the left.

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) said Thursday that lawmakers will issue subpoenas “in days” to compel individuals to testify over their involvement in the Department of Justice’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

“What we’re continuing to find… is additional information from DOJ and FBI that has literally been hidden from Congress’ oversight role for nine months,” Meadows said on HillTV’s “Rising.”

“So we’re at the point where the frustration has reached a level that we’ve got to deal with it,” he continued. “Issuing subpoenas to compel people to come in and testify — some of them who really I think want to testify, want to make sure that we clean this up — will be actually forthcoming in days where we’ll get them to come in.” (h/t The Hill)

4:30 PM ET – Andy McCarthy, Fox News Contributor, and columnist for National Review. He served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and has been watching the developing coverage on the IG hearings, Christopher Steele and his visits to the State Department and the request for unredacted documents from the IG and DOJ. What are the next steps following the subpoenas promised by Mark Meadows? And finally why is it that the two-tier justice system is deliberately unreported by the left? McCarthy says it’s time for this witch hunt to end.

The IG’s rationale has been vulnerable to attack because of the way it has been distorted by FBI director Christopher Wray and congressional Democrats. They blithely assert that the IG found no bias in the FBI’s decision-making. That claim insults our intelligence.

The report documents a surfeit of political animus. Chapter Twelve, in which the IG marshals text messages and other recorded communications between investigators, is breathtaking. The report does not say that the investigators’ manifest loathing of Trump, their expressed intent to derail his presidential bid, and their desire to bring about his impeachment were irrelevant. It says that (a) because there were legitimate policy considerations that could have informed everyone of their investigative decisions, and (b) because, as a matter of law, the FBI and Justice Department have broad discretion to make such judgment calls, (c) it is not the IG’s place to second-guess those decisions.

In other words, if there were plausible legitimate grounds to support a discretionary investigative call, the IG must give investigators the benefit of the doubt, assuming that they acted on those legitimate grounds. Given that this is surely the Justice Department’s position, it should pull the plug, forthwith, on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s obstruction investigation of President Trump. 5:05 PM ET – Jonathan Gilliam, author of the newly released book, Sheep No More, and Danielle McLaughlin, an Attorney & Constitutional Expert who co-wrote The Federalist Society: How Conservatives took the Law Back from Liberals, discuss the ongoing immigration battles surrounding the manufactured concern for ‘children in cages’ that no one cared about when Barack Obama was president. The inaction under that president left the ball in the lap of the Trump administration. Of course, Obama took to Facebook yesterday to pontificate, now that he has absolutely no responsibility:

In a post to Facebook Wednesday afternoon to mark World Refugee Day, Obama lamented, “And to watch those families broken apart in real time puts to us a very simple question: are we a nation that accepts the cruelty of ripping children from their parents’ arms, or are we a nation that values families, and works to keep them together?”
