A recent poll conducted by Franklin and Marshall College indicates that Democrat Bob Brooks is leading Republican Congressman Ryan Mackenzie in the race for Pennsylvania's Seventh Congressional District. The poll shows Brooks with a 45-40 lead over Mackenzie, who is seeking to retain the seat for the GOP after unseating Democrat Susan Wild in 2024. Brooks also holds a significant advantage among independent voters, with a 40-25 lead.

The race is considered a competitive swing-seat contest in the Lehigh Valley, with economic concerns and affordability issues shaping the campaign. Brooks, a former firefighter and president of the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association, has been endorsed by national Democrats and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. He advocates for progressive policies, including Medicare for All, reversing the 2017 tax law's benefits for wealthy individuals, and investing in renewable energy.

Mackenzie, on the other hand, has expressed concerns over data center developments in Pennsylvania, aligning himself with local communities' interests. He has criticized Governor Shapiro for his executive order on data centers, arguing that local zoning and community decisions should take precedence.

As the election approaches, both candidates continue to campaign vigorously, with Brooks currently trading at 83% to win on prediction markets. The general election is set for November 7, 2026, and will determine the representation of Pennsylvania's Seventh Congressional District in the U.S. House.
