Northampton County officials have identified Thuan Vo, 21, as the man charged with criminal homicide for allegedly fatally shooting his brother, Bryan Vo, 24, in Wilson Borough, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred overnight on Sunday (September 20) at their home on Birch Street. According to court documents, Thuan claims the shooting was accidental.
Police were dispatched to the residence around 12:10 a.m. after Thuan called 911, initially stating he had accidentally stabbed his brother, but later clarified that he had accidentally shot him in the neck. Officers found Bryan on the living room floor with a gunshot wound to the back of his neck. Despite medical aid from the Wilson Borough Fire Department and Suburban EMS, Bryan was pronounced dead at St. Luke’s Hospital-Anderson Campus at 6:53 a.m.
Thuan told investigators that he and Bryan had recently obtained concealed-carry licenses and purchased handguns. On the night of the incident, they were watching a movie and preparing to leave for a drink when Thuan decided to handle his Glock 19. He explained that he removed the handgun from its holster, chambered a round, and then re-holstered it. Later, he attempted to remove the round from the chamber but accidentally fired the gun, striking Bryan, who was approximately 19 feet away.
During the investigation, Thuan demonstrated how he handled the firearm, but his descriptions of the gun's position varied. A search of the residence revealed a Glock handgun in the kitchen with a round in the chamber and 14 rounds in the magazine. A live 9mm bullet and a spent shell casing were also found on the kitchen floor.
Thuan is currently being held in Northampton County Prison without bail, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 5. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are continuing to gather evidence.
