The state treasurer says taxpayer money won't be used to pay for more than a million dollars in security upgrades at Governor Shapiro's private home. Stacy Garrity, who is likely to oppose Shapiro in this November's election, says there's no legal authority that allows the use of taxpayer money for upgrades or improvements to the governor's personal residence. The upgrades were made following last year's arson attack at the governor's mansion in Harrisburg. A Shapiro spokesperson released a statement saying, "The State Treasurer’s refusal to complete payments for work authorized by the Pennsylvania State Police to keep the Governor and his family safe following an attempted assassination is a completely unprecedented and shameful political action without legal basis."
