Services for Berks Firefighters Today and Tomorrow

Services are being held today and tomorrow for two Berks County firefighters who tragically lost their lives in a crash last weekend. Jeff Buck, Walnuttown Fire Chief, and Robert Shick, Assistant Chief, were killed while assisting in a search for a missing woman. The crash occurred when a vehicle struck them on the shoulder of Route 222 in Richmond Township.

The public is invited to attend a viewing today (Friday, April 10) from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Fleetwood High School Auditorium. A joint funeral service will follow on Saturday (April 11) at 11 a.m. at the same location. Doors will open at 9:15 a.m. for the funeral, and a celebration of life will be held afterward at Fleetwood Borough Park. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early due to expected large crowds.

The driver involved in the crash, identified as Alexander Sepulveda Rivera from New York, has been charged with vehicular homicide, DUI, hit-and-run, and involuntary manslaughter. In honor of Buck and Shick, all Pennsylvania and U.S. flags on state facilities and public buildings have been ordered to fly at half-staff.
