Here's what's trending for March 10.

Unless you're been paying absolutely no attention over the past week-and-a-half, you know gas prices have soared since the U.S./Israel attacks on Iran. According to AAA East Central, the average price of a gallon of gas in Pennsylvania is $3.58, up nearly 47 cents from the week before and 27 cents higher than the 2025 figure. In the Lehigh Valley, the average price is $3.55, up 47 cents from last week and 44 cents more expensive than one year earlier.

It's believed the human remains found in Monroe County are those of a missing Bethlehem man. 43-year-old Matthew Thompson had not been seen since February 13th after driving to Tobyhanna that day for a real estate transaction. The remains were found Sunday near Mount Pocono Municipal Wastewater Treatment Facility and preliminary observations don't show “any clear or apparent signs of foul play.”

Crews are working to repair a sinkhole that has closed a Catasauqua street. Prospect Street between Poplar Street and High Street is closed until further notice due to a sinkhole. Crews will be actively working in the area, and residents and motorists are asked to use alternate routes.

The City of Bethlehem hopes to win the USA Today's10 Best Main Street competition for the second straight year. Bethlehem won the top honor last year and has been nominated once again this year. We may flirt with record high temperatures both today and tomorrow, but Accu-Weather's Joe Lundberg says that all changes Thursday. "The bottom drops out. Temperatures are going to quickly fall into the 40s and we'll say goodbye to this warmth for a while," Lundberg says. After Wednesday, Lundberg doesn't think we'll hit the 60 degree mark for at least a week-and-a-half.

Authorities say a standoff in Schuylkill County ended with a man being found dead. State Police said several gunshots were fired at troopers who responded to a domestic incident at a home on Valley Street in New Philadelphia Monday morning. This led to a standoff that lasted close to four hours before troopers entered the home and found the man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Nobody else was injured.

Two teenagers from Bucks County are charged for what police say was an ISIS-inspired bombing attempt outside the home of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. NYPD says 19-year-old Ibrahim Kayumi and 18-year-old Emir Balat threw improvised explosive devices during an anti-Islam protest and counter protest on Saturday. According to Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, they told officers they were inspired by ISIS and wanted so-called "infidels" to die. The FBI and NYPD's bomb squads did controlled detonations of the devices, and say they could have caused "death and destruction" if they went off as planned.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday says his office will continue pursing legal action against Live Nation Entertainment despite a settlement with the federal government announced yesterday. The Department of Justice said Live Nation agreed to pay up to 280-million-dollars to settle a lawsuit filed by more than two-dozen states which alleged the company created an illegal monopoly when they merged with Ticketmaster in 2010. Sunday said he believes the settlement falls far short of protecting consumers as Ticketmaster drove up prices and fees while limiting choices for fans, artists, and venues.

Governor Mikie Sherrill will make her first budget address today when she's expected to explain how she plans to tackle the state's chronic fiscal issues. Sherrill has pledged no new taxes and she intends to identify spending cuts for the state. New Jersey faces an almost $3 billion structural deficit that's under pressure from rising costs and long-term spending pressures. The state is projected to finish the current fiscal year with a surplus of more than seven-billion dollars but administration officials warn the surplus could be wiped out if spending continues unchecked.

A bill making its way through the state legislature would require every public school in New Jersey to have at least one anti-choking device. They are not FDA-approved, and the state health department sent out a memo last year saying there is not enough evidence these devices are effective or safe. The bill is, however, advancing through senate committees, where the parents of four month old Maverick Chambers testified in favor of the measure. The infant boy died of a choking accident in 2022.

A Lehigh Valley native's time with the Philadelphia Eagles appears to be over. Wide receiver Jahan Dotson has signed a two-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons. The Nazareth High School and Penn State alum was traded to the Birds in 2024, winning a Super Bowl in his first season. The Eagles also lost starting safety Reed Blankenship, who signed a deal with Houston; linebacker Nakobe Dean, who is now a Raider and edge rusher Jaelan Phillips departed for Carolina.

The Phillies are rewarding one of their front-end starters. ESPN reports the team extended Jesus Luzardo to a five-year deal worth $135 million. He was eligible to become a free agent after this upcoming season. The 28-year-old was traded to Philly before the start of last year and went 15-and-7 with a 3.92 ERA. Luzardo also struck out 216 batters in almost 185 innings.
