Easton has finalized a use-sharing agreement for public parking at the Social Security Administration (SSA) office lot, located at 134 S. Fourth Street. The deal, approved by the Easton City Council, allows the city to use up to 75 parking spaces when the SSA is closed. These spaces will be available for public use from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekdays and throughout weekends, aligning with Easton's metered parking regulations.

City Administrator Luis Campos stated that the revenue from these spaces will be split evenly between the city and K3 Holdings LLC, the owner of the parking lot. The city will handle maintenance tasks such as landscaping and snow removal. This agreement is part of a broader initiative to address Easton's parking challenges, especially during peak times.

The city plans to increase its parking capacity further by securing an additional 250 spaces at Northampton County lots. These shared parking arrangements will provide significant cost savings compared to constructing new parking spaces, which would cost nearly $10 million for 325 spaces.

The new parking options are expected to support Easton's growth by easing parking pressures and enhancing access for residents, visitors, and businesses in the downtown area. The agreements with Northampton County and Emerald Realty are pending approval from their respective councils in upcoming meetings.
