Police in Allentown are investigating a weekend murder. Around 4:00 a.m. Sunday, police were called to the BKK Lounge on the 1500 block of Union Boulevard, for a shooting. When they arrived, investigators say a 32-year-old Lower Macungie Township man was dead and three others were injured. Those three are expected to survive. Police said the shooting happened after a fight between two groups of people inside the lounge and spilled out into the parking lot. The murder victim's name has not yet been released. There is no word on any arrests. The killing is Allentown's first murder of 2025.
There are no reports of injuries after a fire that damaged two buildings in Northampton. Crews were sent to the 2400 block of Main Street early Sunday morning. Officials said the fire restarted in the evening, but crews were quickly able to get it under control. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
First responders were needed after a crash in Lehigh County Sunday morning. A two-vehicle wreck was reported on the 3000 block of Broadway in South Whitehall at around 6 a.m. Authorities said at least one person had to be rescued from their vehicle. It is unknown if anyone was injured.
There were some nervous moments at a Northampton County hotel Sunday afternoon. A fire broke out around 2 o'clock at the Extended Stay America Hotel on Schoenersville Road. It was a two-alarm fire that started in the laundry room of the hotel. The fire was put out within about a half-hour.
After picking up about a half-inch of snow Sunday night, Accu-Weather's Joe Lundberg says our next chance for wintry weather is Wednesday night. He adds, you may want to get used to it. "The next several weeks are going to be stormy. This is going to be a very active storm track for the next two or three weeks across the area. There will be multiple opportunities for snow, ice and maybe rain too," Lundberg says. Lundberg says Wednesday night could feature snow, sleet and freezing rain.
Six people aboard a medical transport plane and one person on the ground were killed when the plane crashed Friday night in Northeast Philadelphia. Mayor Cherelle Parker says 22 others were injured, including five still in the hospital, three of whom are in critical condition. "Please continue to lift them, their families and loved ones up in prayer. Our city stands with them and every victim of this tragedy," Parker said. The plane's black box was found Sunday about eight feet underground at the site of the crash. Officials say it is in what they call decent shape.
State Senator Dave Argall is co-sponsoring bills in Harrisburg that aim to prevent the misuse of tax dollars in public assistance programs. Argall, who represents the state's 29th Senate district including all of Carbon and Schuylkill Counties, is backing bills that would have officials check that dead individuals and lottery winners are not receiving benefit payouts. Those bills passed the Pennsylvania Senate on Friday and now go to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
Governor Phil Murphy calls criticism of wind projects off the Jersey Shore -- quote "stupid political discourse." Murphy vows to push forward with plans to make New Jersey a 100 percent clean energy state by 2035. Murphy was responding to an executive order by the Trump Administration to ban all new offshore leases for wind farms. New Jersey's one wind project, Atlantic Shores South, is the only offshore wind project in New Jersey to have obtained all of its permits before Trump signed his order. Murphy says the project is an important source of union jobs in the state.
Both the Eagles and Chiefs are now in New Orleans ahead of Super Bowl 59. Before flying south, the Eagles held a rally at Lincoln Financial Field, where several players, including Brandon Graham, addressed the fans. "We've gotta go down there and try to get this win and we gotta come back and bring that trophy," Graham said. Super Bowl Opening Night will be held tonight with hundreds of media set to interview players and coaches during their only public appearance before taking the field for the game.
