AG Warns All Pennsylvania Big Lots Could Close

Attorney General Michelle Henry has issued a warning to Pennsylvania residents that all 64 Big Lots stores in the state might close soon. This warning follows the company's Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing last year. A federal court has already authorized going-out-of-business sales at these locations, which began on December 20, 2024.

The bankruptcy court has set a deadline of Friday, January 31, 2025, for consumers to file a Proof of Claim if they have any claims against Big Lots. Consumers can file electronically through the Delaware Bankruptcy Court's website or the bankruptcy administrator's website.

Attorney General Henry advises consumers to make purchases with a credit card to allow for potential disputes. She also recommends consulting a private attorney to ensure their rights are protected during the bankruptcy proceedings. Those affected by the closures can submit a complaint to the Bureau of Consumer Protection online or call the Consumer Protection Hotline at 1-800-441-2555 for updates on the bankruptcy case.
