Latest State Test Scores Show Pennsylvania Kids Still Behind

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Pennsylvania's state test scores show kids continue to be behind where they were before COVID. The PSSA and Keystone test scores show some improvement for some kids, in some grades, in some classes. But the state's Department of Education says those scores continue to be lower than the test scores back in 2019. That was the last full year of school before COVID. The 2024 scores show that while 63 percent of Pennsylvania 11th graders are proficient in reading, 12 percent of kids have below basic reading skills. Just over 41 percent of 11th graders are proficient in math, while 20 percent have below basic skills.
