A former teacher has won a lawsuit against the Allentown School District, who fired him after he attended the rally that preceded the January Sixth riot at the U.S. Capitol. Jason Moorehead claimed the school district besmirched his name by falsely connecting him to the attack, stating that he was over a mile away the entire time and only attended the rally. Moorehead taught in the Allentown School District for 17 years before he was terminated. He was awarded more than 130-thousand dollars.
Someone who bought a lottery ticket in Carbon County is a million-dollars richer. The Pennsylvania Lottery says someone bought a winning Cash 5 with Quick Cash ticket last week in Nesquehoning. The ticket for last Thursday's drawing was sold at the Friendly Food Mart on Stock Street in Nesquehoning.
Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash on I-78. State police say a car going east in the westbound lanes collided with another vehicle early yesterday morning. One of the victims is reportedly critically injured. The crash is being investigated.
Pennsylvania wildland firefighters are back home after being deployed to help crews out west. Members of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Bureau of Forestry were sent across the country to assist local first responders with wildfires. The department says the firefighters are not only helping people in those communities, but also learning skills they can bring back to Pennsylvania. More than 100 DCNR firefighters have been sent out west this year, with more deployments expected.
Former President Trump will be campaigning in Pennsylvania today. Officials in York County say Trump will take the stage at around three p.m. at a manufacturing plant. The rally takes place roughly three weeks before Trump and Democratic Presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris are set to face off in a live debate in Philadelphia.
Some residents in Butler County are working to unite people following the assassination attempt at the Trump rally last month. Hundreds of attendees turned up for an event called the "Red, White and Blue Revival" at Bonniebrook Ristorante in Butler on Saturday. State Representative Stephanie Scialabba said the goal of the gathering was to encourage people to support one another as the community moves forward from the July 13th shooting. Bands donated their time to perform and some political and church leaders shared messages with the crowd. Proceeds from the event are supporting charities selected by the families of the two men who were injured at the Trump rally and the loved ones of Corey Comperatore, the former Buffalo Township fire chief who was killed.
Pennsylvania's auditor says he wants more people to be aware of his office's work. Auditor General Timothy DeFoor this week announced a new website that should make it easier to find and understand state audits that affect taxpayers. DeFoor's office has released dozens of audits already this summer.
Authorities are trying to locate three people suspected of stealing a license plate off of a police car. Surveillance cameras captured the moments Friday morning when the suspects committed the crime along North 13th Street. Detectives believe two men and a woman were involved. Anyone with information is asked to come forward.
New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez has ended his short-lived run as an independent candidate on the November ballot. He sent a letter to the New Jersey Division of Elections on Friday -- the last official day to do so. Tomorrow he'll officially resign from his senate seat. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has named his former chief of staff -- George Helmy -- to temporarily replace Menendez. The senator was found guilty on 16 felony counts in a federal corruption trial last month and is awaiting sentencing in October.
