Former President Trump claims Vice President Kamala Harris did not pick Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as her running mate because he's Jewish. During an interview with Fox News, Trump said he had very little doubt that Shapiro wasn't chosen "because of the fact that he's Jewish." The former president then went on to say the Harris campaign thought picking Shapiro would offend others. The Harris campaign has denied Trump's allegations, and Shapiro has said that he expressed reservations to the campaign about leaving his job as governor.

Governor Josh Shapiro is dismissing the notion that he lost out on the opportunity to run for vice president because of his faith. Both Donald Trump and his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, have said they believe Kamala Harris passed on Shapiro because he is Jewish. When questioned about those statements during an appearance in Greene County yesterday, the governor said the decisions about the presidential campaign that both he and Harris made were "deeply personal." He added that any spin on Harris's choice that "outsiders want to put on it for their own benefit is absolutely false."

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman is denying reports he raised concerns to the Kamala Harris campaign about Governor Josh Shapiro. Fetterman told reporters Wednesday "it's just not true" his team expressed issues to the Vice President's staff about Shapiro being vetted as her running mate. Fetterman said he did have problems with Shapiro in the past, but they have nothing to do with anything recently reported.

Federal officials say Trump rally gunman Thomas Crooks practiced shooting for nearly a year before last month's assassination attempt. Documents released yesterday by U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley show Crooks joined the Clairton Sportsman's Club in August of last year and made over 40 visits before the shooting at the Butler Farm Show grounds on July 13th. The club's records indicate Crooks spent about 80-percent of his time there on the rifle range, which includes at least one 200-yard target. Investigators say Crooks was less than 150 yards away from the stage where Trump was standing when he fired the shot that grazed the former president's ear.
