Vice President Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota's governor and not Pennsylvania's governor as her running mate. Pennsylvania Congressman Dan Meuser tells Fox Business that the pick of Tim Walz makes philosophical sense for Harris. "Walz's latest comments that being socialist is like being neighborly, it sounds like he's going to fit very well with the ideology of Kamala Harris," Meuser says. Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro was also reportedly a finalist for the position.
Despite not being chosen to be the running mate to Vice President Kamala Harris, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro says she still has his “enthusiastic support.” Harris chose Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate. In a statement before participating in a Harris/Walz rally in Philadelphia, Shapiro said, “Vice President Kamala Harris has my enthusiastic support and I know that Governor Tim Walz is an exceptionally strong addition to the ticket who will help Kamala move our country forward."

Most of Pennsylvania's casinos are suing over the taxes on their slot machines. Twelve of the state's 17 casinos are challenging the tax on 'games of chance' that bar owners with 'games of skill' don't have to pay. The difference between the two kinds of machines is a 54-percent tax, according to the casinos. Pennsylvania law describes the difference as between a game where skill determines your odds, versus traditional slot machines which are purely games of chance. Governor Josh Shapiro has proposed a 42-percent tax on games of skill, but lawmakers haven't taken up that idea just yet.
The Attorney General of Pennsylvania is demanding more from the railway involved in last year's train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. A-G Michelle Henry says many Pennsylvania residents are still feeling the impacts of the derailment, and Norfolk Southern must provide more aid. In a letter to federal officials, Henry claims Norfolk Southern has provided "inadequate health care funding" for the effects of the derailment, and failed to incorporate recommendations made by the National Transportation Safety Board following the incident. She added that the full extent of the health impacts of the derailment are still to be seen.
An administrative law judge has ruled that independent presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy Junior can remain on the state's ballot. The judge ruled that Kennedy never actually filed for the presidential primary in New Jersey, so the so-called sore loser law does not apply. The law prevents a candidate from running as an independent if they unsuccessfully sought a major party nomination for the same office.
