Americans Worried About Losing Job

A recent survey reveals that 25% of employed Americans are concerned about losing their jobs within the next year. The poll, conducted by OnePoll, surveyed 2,000 adults about their perceptions of job security and career progression.

The study found that these fears stem from concerns about the job market and the stability of their industry. Additionally, 32% of respondents expressed worry about falling behind or lacking the necessary skills for success in their current roles. This concern is heightened by the fact that 55% of respondents feel they have been doing the same job for years, and 54% believe their skills are somewhat outdated.

The survey also revealed that 78% of respondents are interested in upskilling at their current job. However, 41% are worried about losing their free time if they embark on an upskilling journey. Other concerns include the associated costs (31%) and not having enough time in the workday (27%).

Despite these concerns, 82% of respondents said they would be interested in pursuing an upskilling opportunity if offered by their job within the next six months. The most sought-after skills for upskilling include leadership, management or planning, and understanding how to utilize artificial intelligence.(^3^)
