Airport Freight Extension Funded with Federal Money

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Lehigh Valley International Airport is planning a new, expanded cargo terminal. The project announced late last week will use more than 40-million-dollars in federal grants. The new terminal will allow trucks to load and unload cargo directly to and from aircraft. The runways include a 100-thousand-foot main building and will be able to accommodate up to four planes at a time. Officials say the new terminal is needed due to continued volume from Amazon, FedEx and charter airline Air Cargo International.
