Pennsylvania Among Several States Impacted By Unknown Disease Affecting Dogs
(Undated) -- Pennsylvania is one of several states in which an unknown disease is negatively impacting man's best friend. Health officials in the Keystone State describe the disease as an "atypical respiratory illness with no known cause." Affected dogs show signs of lethargy, coughing, sneezing, and eye and nasal discharge. In some cases, officials say, the disease can be fatal. Owners are advised to keep their pets away from unknown dogs, especially those that show any respiratory symptoms. Meanwhile, officials say, veterinarians are working to come up with a treatment for the disease.
