Fresh Food Financing Initiative Bill Passes House

(Harrisburg, PA) - A move to re-establish the Pennsylvania Fresh Food Financing Initiative is underway in the state House. The program previously was in play from 2004 to 2010 and provided grants and low-interest loans for building and re-habbing grocery stores and farmers markets. These types of businesses were set up in low to moderate-income areas. Supporters say the revamped idea will again ensure that all communities have access to fresh, nutritious food. The measure passed the House and is headed to the Senate for future consideration.
