Pennsylvania Reps Vote Along Party Lines on Bill Involving Transgender Athletes

(Washington, DC) -- Pennsylvania's Republican representatives in the U.S. House have approved a committee vote that would ban transgender athletes in girls' sports. U.S. Representatives Glenn 'GT' Thompson and Lloyd Smucker voted yes on the measure in a session of the House Education and Workforce Committee late last week. U.S. Rep. Susan Wild, a Democrat from Pennsylvania's 7th District, voted 'no.' The bill would prohibit schools from allowing transgender student athletes that had been born male to participate in programs that are for women or girls.
