Rite Aid is now offering all three COVID-19 vaccines at all locations. They're also offering walk-in vaccinations, but on a limited basis to help those without access to the internet. Officials say appointments are still recommended and will help people get in and out quicker.
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy says he will announce more steps in New Jersey's reopening process today. He cautions the pandemic isn't over yet, but adds a great deal of progress continues to be made. "I think we're going to be able to put a stake in its heart, but we're not there yet. The numbers are going, without question, in the right direction," Murphy says. Nearly 7-million shots have been administered so far in New Jersey, with more than 3-million people fully vaccinated.
Today is the last day to register to vote in the May 18th primary election. Those looking to register to vote have until midnight to register online at www.votespa.com or they can download an application and return it to their county board of election no later than today. Those looking to change their political party affiliation also have until the end of the day to do so. If you're registered and want to vote by mail, you have until May 11th to apply.
The man known as "The Second Gentleman" will be in the Lehigh Valley later this week. Douglas Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, is scheduled to visit Allentown on Wednesday. The visit is part of the Biden administration's “Getting America Back on Track” tour, which is intended to help sell the administration's infrastructure proposal. More details about Emhoff's visit to Allentown are expected to be released soon.
Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that damaged a home in Carbon County. It happened Sunday afternoon at a residence on the 800 block of East Lizard Road in East Penn Township. It's unknown what caused the fire.
There are 99 named etched into the Memorial Wall remembering all Pennsylvania State Police troopers who have died on the job since the department was formed in 1905. In a video release, Col. Robert Evanchick says even though ceremonies remained mainly virtual this year, the importance of Sunday remains unchanged. "Although we've had to modify our traditional ceremony of gathering together on The Hill at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy for yet another year, the importance of today remains paramount," Evanchick says. The Pennsylvania State Police was established on May 2, 1905.
Pennsylvania lawmakers are considering legislation that would allow the sale of canned cocktails at stores that aren't run by the state. St. Sen. Mike Regan says customers want them, but they have a hard time finding the drinks at state liquor stores. Some business owners are worried this would hurt restaurants and bars, which have been struggling throughout the pandemic. Regan is currently drawing up the bill and says he will take these worries from business owners into consideration.
More than 30 Republican lawmakers have written a letter to President Biden to block the Department of Education's proposal to approve the use of the "1619 Project" in school curriculum. Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. Bob Casey tells Fox News those lawmakers are misguided. "It's important that we learn it because we can't be the country we say we are and try to be a more perfect union unless we learn the whole history. A lot of history, unfortunately, is about racism and about white supremacy," Casey says. The 1619 Project focuses on the long-term consequences of slavery on American history and it's impact on race relations.
Undocumented immigrants who live in New Jersey can now apply for driver's licenses. The law went into effect on Saturday, which is when the Motor Vehicle Commission started accepting applications. New Jersey is the 14th state now allowing its more than 450,000 undocumented residents to apply for a driver's license or non-driver identification card.
