Dorney Park's Halloween Haunt is supposed to be scary. But, Shannon Sacco says Halloween Haunt was too scary for her daughter and caused her severe, permanent debilitating injuries and she's suing Dorney Park for $150,000. Sacco's suit claims Dorney Park was negligent for failing to tell Sacco or her daughter they could buy a "No Boo" necklace that would tell park employees to not frighten the child. The suit claims the daughter many have to continue medical treatment in the future and has not been able to hold a job because of her injuries.
Proseuctors are alleging an Allentown woman was drunk when her infant child drowned in a bathtub. Crystal Cwiklik has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment in connection to the death of her 11-month-old daughter, Cassie, in July 2017. She's also being charged with reckless endangerment for leaving her two-year-old son alone in the same tub. Officials allege she left the children unattended for 20 minutes and a blood test taken five hours later reportedly revealed she was intoxicated and under the influence of anxiety medication.
The Allentown Police Department has some new blood. Four new cadets have now entered the Allentown Police Academy, while another four received their badges upon completing their academy training. The additions bring the Allentown PD to 209 officers. The city budgets for 222 officers.
The number one selling duo in music history is coming to this summer's Great Allentown Fair. Daryl Hall and John Oates will make their first-ever appearance at the Grandstand on the night of September 1st. Tickets, priced at $79 and $109, go on sale February 8th.
When it comes to building a wall along our border with Mexico, PA Republican Sen. Pat Toomey doubts the president will get everything he wants when all's said and done, but neither will the Democrats. "I'm hoping that wiser heads will prevail and we get a compromise and make some progress on border security. The Democrats will have something to go home with that they're interested in," Toomey says. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi maintains President Trump won't get a dime for any wall.
The tips are back on Hershey Kisses. The candy company says it's made some adjustments for shaping the tips in the manufacturing process for Kisses to have what CEO Michele Buck called greater consistency. That means some packages of Kisses will still have candies with missing tips for a while. Hershey took a serious beating on social media in December when a lot of people complained the missing tips ruined their Christmas cookies and other treats.
Philadelphia leads Pennsylvania in babies born addicted to opioids. The state features a public dashboard of such information online and according to its numbers, Philly leads the way in that stat, as well as in having the most people covered by Medicaid and are addicted to opioids. Philadelphia also reportedly has the most people covered by Medicaid and receiving medication assistaed treatment.
A presumed presidential candidate has made it official. New Jersey Democrat Sen. Cory Booker has entered the race via a video. "I believe that we can build a country where no one is forgotten, where no one is left behind. Where parents can put food on the table, where there are good paying jobs, with good benefits in every neighborhood," Booker says in the video. The former mayor of Newark has been in the Senate since 2003.
Democrat legislators in New Jersey are threatening to boot Republican President Donald Trump from the ballot unless he discloses this taxes. Some members of New Jersey's state legislature are reviving legislation that would require anyone running for president or vice-president to provide five previous years of tax information before appearing on the ballot. The bill would also ban electoral college members for voting for a candidate who does not disclose their taxes. A past attempt by state lawmakers in 2017 was vetoed by Republican then-Gov. Chris Christie.
A New Jersey man is charged with staging a phony slip and fall incident at a company in Woodbridge. The Middlesex County Prosecutor's office alleges Alexander Goldinsky threw some ice cubes on the floor in the company's cafeteria then faked a slip and fall injury before filing an insurance claim. As it turns out, the incident was captured on surveillance video. Goldinsky is charged with felony insurance fraud.
The Philadelphia Eagles and safety Rodney McLeod have agreed to a restructured contract that will keep the safety in Philadelphia for the 2019 season. McLeod was a candidate to be released with a high dead cap number but the two sides were able to come to an agreement on a structure that will lower the number and provide the franchise some flexibility this offseason. McLeod still has two years of a five-year deal remaining.
