FBI Agents Union Says Shutdown Is Hurting Investigations

The government shutdown is hurting FBI investigations.  The FBI Agents Association released a report saying the shutdown has hobbled operations.  Some agents say they can't pay informants because of lack of funding, causing them to lose some sources.  One official investigating the dangerous MS-13 gang reported that it's been difficult to communicate with Spanish speaking informants.  That agent said that since the shutdown, he didn't have a Spanish interpreter in the division.  One agent summed up the shutdown's effect on the Bureau and the country, saying "the fear is our enemies know they can run freely."
