Shocking Video Captures Defendant Trying To Grab Cops Gun In Court

Moments after a judge in Oregon denied the prosecution's request to fit a defendant with a concealed restraining device, the defendant lunged for a police officer's gun. Scott Patrick Lemmon was facing charges stemming from an incident where he allegedly pointed a fake gun at two individuals and threatened to kill them before robbing them.

Video from the courtroom shows Lemmon leaning back in his chair, eyeing the police officer sitting to his left. He continued to fidget, glancing at the officer's gun, before he abruptly jumped out of his seat and rushed toward the officer, trying to grab his weapon. Another officer rushed toward him, tackling him to the ground. Two other officers came over and helped restrain him.

Sheriff's spokesman Sergeant Josh McDowall praised the quick reaction of the officers who prevented Lemmon from gaining possession of the officer's weapon.

"Due to the swift actions from the officer and deputies involved, none of the parties sustained any serious injuries, jail medical staff treated one of the deputies for minor scrapes and abrasions."

After order was restored to the courtroom, Lemmon was convicted of Robbery II, Burglary I, Theft II, two counts of Menacing and four counts of Coercion. Officials said that he will likely face additional charges for his actions in court.
