A man is dead following a crash in Lehigh County yesterday. Police say the man was driving a truck that crashed on the 2700 block of Valley Road in North Whitehall Township. He has not been identified. Authorities are investigating.
A Schuylkill County man faces charges in connection with sexual assault and abuse of a 12-year-old girl. East Union Township Police say 27-year-old Cristofer Florentino, of Oneida, was arrested Tuesday after a two-month-long investigation. Over a period of several years, police allege Rubio had sexual contact with and forced the victim to engage in sex acts with him. Rubio was committed to Schuylkill County Prison, under $100,000 straight cash bail.
U.S. Senate candidates Bob Casey and Dave McCormick held their second and likely final debate Tuesday night on 6ABC. McCormick says if he's elected senator he'd work with the other side to improve America. "You've got to find a way to compromise to get things done. I'm someone who will get things done," McCormick said. Sen. Casey says while McCormick says he will work in a bipartisan effort, he already does. "His record is as a hedge fund CEO investing in China and our adversaries. That's his record. Mine is bipartisan work in the Senate," Casey said. The candidates touched on a wide range of topics, such as clean energy policy, gun laws, and abortion rights.
The candidates for Pennsylvania Attorney General say they do not plan on later running for governor. During last night's debate, both Democrat Eugene DePasquale and Republican Dave Sunday said they plan to serve all eight years if elected twice, and have no intention of running for higher office. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro was Attorney General for six years before his election in 2022.
President Biden campaigned for Vice President Harris in Philadelphia Tuesday and he gave an emotional reason as to why he picked her to be his vice president. "I picked her because she has character and integrity. I must admit I picked her because she did have one endorsement that meant the most to me. My son, Beau, was the attorney general of the state of Delaware and before he deployed to Iraq for a year, he told me he had met the next generation. He worked with her," Biden said. The swing state of Pennsylvania is a tossup for the vice president and her opponent former President Trump, though she has a slight lead according to the latest Real Clear Politics polling average.
Donald Trump is possibly attending the Steelers game this Sunday. Steelers Now cites anonymous sources who say the former president is stopping by Acrisure Stadium as the team takes on the Jets for Sunday Night Football. Trump has a campaign rally scheduled for the day before at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe.
Phillies president Dave Dombrowski says when it comes to the manager and coaching staff in 2025, it will be the status quo. "We have extended Rob Thomson for 2026 and all the major league coaching staff will be back," Dombrowski says. Dombrowski says Thomson has done a very good job in his two-and-a-half years as manager and said he believes managerial continuity is important.
