Here's what's trending for October 4.

The Upper Macungie Township Board of Supervisors has voted to change its noise ordinances. In the township's industrial district, noise can now no longer exceed 65 decibels. Previously, that level was 75 decibels. In the residential district, daytime decibels can now not exceed 65 decibels and night time levels have been cut to 50 decibels.

An eight-mile section of the Northeast Extension will be closed for part of the weekend. The Turnpike Commission says the road will be closed between exits 87 and 95 between 11 o'clock tonight and 6 o'clock Saturday morning and then again from 11pm Saturday night through 6am Sunday morning. Detours will be posted.

A 26-year-old Wilson woman is dead after a Wednesday afternoon crash. Investigators say Raquel Perez was driving on Route 309 in Heidelberg Township just before 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon when she left the road and struck a tree. She died about a half hour later.

A 43-year-old Northampton County man died Tuesday night after his motorcycle crashed in New Jersey. Rayvaughn Webster, of Easton, died when he lost control of his motorcycle on I-78 in Springfield Township, Union County. The accident happened just before 10 o'clock Tuesday night.

The investigation continues into a crash in Whitehall Township that sent two people to the hospital yesterday. State Police say six vehicles were involved in the wreck on Route 22 Eastbound, including two 18 wheelers. The victims' conditions are not known at this time.

Authorities say one person had to be rescued from a vehicle following a crash on I-78 yesterday. The wreck happened in the eastbound lanes near the Hellertown and Bethlehem exits and reportedly involved three vehicles. No other details are known at this time.

Boscov's is celebrating its 110th anniversary. The first store opened in Reading. 110 years later, Boscov's plans to open its 51st location. Boscov's has stores at both the Palmer Park Mall and the Lehigh Valley Mall.

Sen. Bob Casey and challenger Dave McCormick held the first of their two scheduled debates Thursday night in Harrisburg. Among the topics discussed were Iran's recent missile attack on Israel, immigration, the economy and abortion. McCormick accused Casey of being weak and nothing more than a rubber stamp for the Biden administration. Casey, meantime, continued to portray McCormick as a rich carpetbagger from Connecticut who made his money at the expense of others. Casey and McCormick have agreed to a second debate on Oct. 15 in Philadelphia.

The candidates for Pennsylvania U.S. Senator discussed the plan to reopen Three Mile Island during last night's debate. Democratic Senator Bob Casey and Republican Dave McCormick agreed that reopening the site will strengthen the state's energy portfolio. However, McCormick said he's not in favor of what he called "hundreds of billions of subsidies for clean energy projects," which he claimed are driving inflation. Constellation Energy and Microsoft plan to restart the unit one reactor at Three Mile Island as part of the process to build the Crane Clean Energy Center.

Former president Donald Trump returns to Butler County tomorrow. Trump and his 2024 running mate, JD Vance, will hold a campaign rally at the Butler Farm Show grounds. That's the same place where the former president was shot in an assassination attempt back in July. One rally-goer was killed and two others were injured in that incident.

Maybe it's Hoagiefest, maybe it's the coffee. A new survey says customers prefer Wawa as the country's best convenience store. The American Customer Satisfaction Index is out with a new customer survey that puts Wawa ahead of Sheetz, and ahead of every other gas station/convenience store in the country. Wawa scored an 82 out of 100. That puts them ahead of QuikTrip, which is based in Oklahoma, and Buc-ee's, which is of course based in Texas. Sheetz doesn't appear in the list til number six, with a score of 79 out of 100. This is the first year for the survey, and Sheetz fans may have something to say about the rankings next year.
