A news conference is set for today on the investigation into a shooting in Allentown that injured eight people last weekend. Lehigh County officials say District Attorney Gavin Holihan and Allentown Police Chief Charles Roca will announce "new developments" in the case. Shots were fired in a parking lot on North Seventh Street near the Dominican Festival Sunday evening. One person has been arrested, but investigators say there were multiple shooters.

The driver of a SUV involved in a Wednesday afternoon crash with a Bethlehem Area School District bus has been cited with reckless driving and other violations. Three students were injured when the SUV crashed head-on into bus. The crash happened just after 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon on East Fourth Street, near the intersection with Edwards Street. Initially the district said six Executive Academy Charter School students were taken to the hospital; however city police now say only three students were injured. The bus driver and the driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries, and they did not need to go to the hospital. After speaking to witnesses and viewing video from the bus, police determined that the SUV was traveling westbound on East Fourth Street when it crossed over the double-yellow line into the eastbound lane, where the bus was traveling. The bus driver was not cited.

It will soon cost more to park in both the short- and long-term lots at Lehigh Valley International Airport. The Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority’s Board of Governors have voted unanimously to rate hikes for both lots for the first time since 2009. Beginning October 1, in the short-term lot, free parking is increasing from 10 to 15 minutes, the hourly rate is increasing from $2 to $3, and the maximum daily rate goes from $22 to $24. For the long-term/overflow lot free parking is increasing from 10 to 15 minutes, the hourly rate remains $2, the maximum daily rate goes from $14 to $16 and the maximum weekly rate goes from $79 to $89.

The strike by dozens of workers in the Bethlehem Area School District is officially over. Union members voted yesterday to ratify the deal made with the district Wednesday night. The agreement ended a three-day work stoppage by about 80 BASD employees.

A new poll says Pennsylvania's race for U.S. Senate is not yet a done deal. The latest Emerson College poll gives current Democratic Senator Bob Casey a four-point lead over Republican challenger Dave McCormick, 48-44. But the poll says eight percent of Pennsylvania voters have yet to make up their minds. The four-point spread is the same as Emerson's poll from July, but it's a narrower lead than the same poll from back in June. The poll says the economy remains the top issue for voters in Pennsylvania, with over 51 percent of people saying that's the most important thing to them.

Former President Donald Trump will make another appearance in Harrisburg next week. Trump is holding a town-hall style event on Wednesday at the Farm Show Complex.

Pennsyvlania Auditor General Timothy DeFoor ha's released a report that showed Pennsylvania taxpayers paid $7 million more for Medicaid prescription drug benefits than they should have during 2022 because of lack of oversight by the Department of Human Services. DeFoor says there were big issues with spread pricing by pharmacy benefit managers or PBM's. "Three MPO's reported to DHS that they weren't charging any additional fees to pharmacies. DHS accepted them at their word and never verified if this was actually true," DeFoor says.

Officials with the Pennsylvania Turnpike are expecting to see the highest number of Labor Day travelers today. The are anticipating about 720,000 cars and trucks on the route through tonight. Additional Geico Safety Patrol teams will be out on the turnpike this weekend and all construction work is being suspended until Monday at 11:00 p.m. Turnpike leaders say they estimate nearly three-million travelers will use the tollway though Monday.
