The Northampton County District Attorney's Office says a man was arrested in connection with a stabbing at a home in Hellertown. It happened Saturday at a home on Thomas Ave. Police say they were first alerted to a situation in the borough when they were called to the 7-Eleven convenience store located at 1100 Main St. in Hellertown. Police responded to the 7-Eleven for a report of a man with blood-stained clothes. The DA's office reports the man was identified by police as William Vera. Police say an investigation revealed that Vera stabbed a man at the Thomas Ave. home. Officials say the knife used by Vera was recovered by police. Police immediately responded to Thomas Ave. and say they found a man with multiple stab wounds. He was treated at the scene and taken to the hospital for continued treatment. Vera is charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault. Bail was denied. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 16.

A man is being charged for a 2022 plane crash that killed a student pilot in Lehigh County. Investigators say 36-year-old Philip McPherson the Second knew that he was not competent to safely fly an aircraft as the pilot-in-command, as he failed the reexamination for his pilot's certificate and voluntarily surrendered it almost a year before the crash. Federal officials said McPherson was pilot-in-command when a student took off from Queen City Airport in Allentown and crashed a short time later. He is charged with involuntary manslaughter along with 40 counts of serving as an airman without a certificate for alleged flights that took place over an eleven-month period before the crash.

A woman died after being hit by the car she had just gotten out of in a parking lot in Lehigh County. It happened Monday around 1:20 p.m. in the 100 block of N. Cedar Crest Boulevard. South Whitehall police say a man was driving the car and the woman was a passenger. She was hit after getting out of the vehicle.

A man has died after a crash Sunday evening in Monroe County. Glenn Detrick, 86, of Stroud Township, was killed after a crash on Paradise Trail (Rt. 447) between Mill Creek Road and Fawn Road in Stroud Township.

The Northampton County Coroner's Office has released the name of the person who died in a violent crash in Bethlehem on Sunday. Leanna Farraj, 24, of Brooklyn, New York, died of multiple injuries sustained in the wreck around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Stefko Boulevard and Bayard Street, the coroner's office said. Her death was ruled an accident. Farraj was a passenger in the car that crashed into two utility poles. She died at the scene.

Game Time Sports Bar & Grille, a sports bar offering cheesesteaks, chicken wings and other pub favorites, has closed at 1028 Broadway in Fountain Hill, according to an announcement posted Monday on the business’ social media pages. The dining establishment opened in 2021 at the site of the former French fine-dining restaurant Saranda’s on Broadway.

An annual farm show in Pennsylvania is returning this week to the site where the assassination attempt on former President Trump's life happened during a rally last month. Gates opened Monday morning for the Butler Farm Show, which will run through Saturday. Organizers say the Trump campaign team rented the grounds for the rally and that they had no involvement. Planners say they are "grieved by" what happened and are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all guests this week.

The autopsy report is being released for the death of the man who attempted to assassinate former President Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania. In the report, the coroner's office says 20-year-old Thomas Crooks was killed from a single gunshot wound to the head. His manner of death was ruled as a homicide. This comes as the FBI is still working to determine a motive for the assassination attempt.

An administrative law judge is expected to rule today on whether independent presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy Junior remains on New Jersey's ballot. The judge is deciding if Kennedy's candidacy falls under New Jersey's Sore Loser law. The law prevents a candidate from running as an independent if they unsuccessfully sought a major party nomination for the same office.

College football is here. USA Today released its preseason Coaches Poll rankings on Monday and Georgia secured the top-overall spot in the nation. The Bulldogs received 46-of-55 first place votes. Ohio State, Oregon, Texas and Alabama round out the Top-Five. Ole Miss and Notre Dame come in at six and seven while last season's national champion Michigan Wolverines are ranked eighth. Penn State and Florida State finish off the Top-10. The regular season begins on August 24th.
