A Philadelphia man is behind bars, accused in the shooting death of a 46-year-old man in Easton. Kameron Nuble was arrested early Wednesday in connection with the 2023 homicide. The shooting happened on October 2023 just after 11 a.m. in the parking lot of Chubby's Market, a fast food and beer store on Easton's South Side. Authorities say Nuble fatally shot Legious Minder Sr. of Easton.

There's still no Pennsylvania budget deal yet, but Gov. Josh Shapiro insists all sides are close. "I've been really proud of all the teams from both parties from both sides of the Chamber and the incredible dedication they have shown. I think we are very close. I said last weekend I think we're deep in the red zone and I think that's where we are," Shapiro says. A debate about education fair funding remains a main sticking point.

Monroe County is among the first to get one of Pennsylvania's new Liberty Bell welcome signs. Governor Josh Shapiro this week unveiled the signs which will be put-up across the state in time for America's 250th birthday in 2026. The new signs have a white background, a blue and red Liberty Bell, and the words Let Freedom Ring along the bottom. The new sign in Monroe County is on I-80. There are eight others just like it, but there will eventually be 37 in all.

Tempers were high during a court appearance for two suspects accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting multiple women yesterday. Officials said the four victims witnessed a shooting in Wilkes-Barre and were abducted to keep them quiet. They face felony charges including rape and kidnapping.

The Pennsylvania House is passing a bill which bans devices that flip license plates on cars. The devices allow for a driver to flip over their license plate so that the plate number cannot be seen. Drivers typically use the devices so they can avoid tolls, commit crimes, or drive recklessly. The bill will now head to the state Senate for consideration.

The plan to crackdown on squatters in Pennsylvania is headed to Governor Josh Shapiro's desk. The Pennsylvania House approved the legislation on Tuesday. The proposal limits squatters' rights in the state, and opens the door to defiant trespass charges if people refuse to leave after a home's owner orders them out. State Senator Dan Laughlin from Erie says squatting is becoming a larger and larger problem in the state, and this plan should fast-track some cases, and get owners their homes back quicker.

Pennsylvania State Police says retired Colonel Paul J. Evanko has passed away. PSP says that during his years of service, Evanko served as Commissioner from 1995 to 2003. “Colonel Evanko will be remembered for his dedication to public safety and commitment to being a soldier of the law,” PSP said on Facebook.

President Biden is facing concerns about his mental acuity and fitness to serve a second term as president. Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman says he would have confidence in Vice President Kamala Harris if she was tapped to take on the role of president. "God forbid if something were to happen to President Biden or if he stepped down, of course I believe she's qualified to do that. I think she's been a great vice president," Fetterman says. In a hypothetical matchup of Vice President Harris versus former President Trump, the former president edges a lead of more than 3 points, according to a Real Clear Politics polling average.

New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez's lawyers are finishing their closing arguments today. They blasted prosecutors for bringing what they called a weak bribery case. Defense lawyers say prosecutors asked the jury to focus on the cash and gold bars, because no one testified they saw the senator take any payoff and some of the cash and gold were merely gifts to the senator's wife, Nadine. The defense closing arguments are expected to continue this morning -- and by the end of the week, the case will be turned over to the jury.
