Lehigh Valley Health Network has officially opened its first neighborhood hospital and Lehigh County's first new acute care hospital built in more than 50 years. It's a one-story, 22,000-square-foot hospital along Route 100 in Lower Macungie Township on the same campus where Health Center at Macungie opened last December on property that used to be home to a Weis supermarket. The new hospital has a full-service ER with 11 beds, a 10-bed inpatient medical unit, X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan and MRI services.
Four people ended up in the hospital after a two-car crash in Upper Macungie Township. It happened just after 10:30 Tuesday night at the intersection of Industrial Boulevard and Morros Court. We're told the crash involved a township vehicle and a SUV. Police are still investigating the crash circumstances.
State police are trying to track down a man who allegedly exposed himself Monday afternoon. Police said an older man driving a blue Dodge Ram pickup truck exposed himself to a child at 4:45 p.m. in the 7000 block of Lincoln Court in Lynn Township. Ryan Williams says that child was his daughter. "He told my daughter she had a nice dog and asked if she'd like to see his dog," Williams says. At that point, Williams says his daughter approached the truck and the man opened the door, revealing he was only wearing a sweatshirt. The man is described as being in his 50s or 60s and bald on the top of his head, with a white beard that goes to a point.
Gas prices in both Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley dipped just a bit over the past seven days. According to AAA East Central, the average price for a gallon of gas in the Lehigh Valley cost $3.42 Tuesday, down more than three cents from the prior Tuesday and seven cents lower than one year earlier. Across Pennsylvania, the average price was $3.51, down two cents from the week before and 12 cents less than one year ago.
State police are trying to track down a man who allegedly exposed himself Monday afternoon. Police said an older man driving a blue Dodge Ram pickup truck exposed himself to a child at 4:45 p.m. in the 7000 block of Lincoln Court in Lynn Township. A 9-year-old girl, her sister and two other children were walking a dog when the man approached them in the truck. He is described as having a balding head with white hair and a white beard.
A man and two women are under arrest for allegedly killing, dismembering and burning a man. Police say 46-year-old Terry Parker, of Harrisburg, was angry at 40-year-old Michael Pruitt because he believed Pruitt exposed himself to his ex's children. Investigators say last Friday, Parker used Ronda Parker's phone to lure Pruitt to Springfield Township, Bradford County. When Pruitt showed up, police say Terry Parker shot him to death and then loaded the body into his car and drove to Harrisburg, where they stopped for ice cream and picked up Terry Parker's girlfriend, Summer Heil. At that point, they allegedly grabbed a shovel and pick and returned to Springfield Township, where Heil and Terry Parker are accused of dismembering the body and tossed it into a burn pit. Terry and Ronda Parker are accused of murder. Heil is charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.
The website Ontario Bets has rated which MLB ballpark is the best for foodies and one of the two Pennsylvania parks doesn't exactly fare well. Pittsburgh's PNC Park is ranked 12th out of the MLB's 30 stadiums, however Citizen's Bank Park in Philadelphia is slotted at number 28. To come up with the rankings, the website created an index that considered four key factors: the number of concessions stands divided by the stadium’s square footage, the number of concessions stands in comparison to the stadium’s capacity, the price of a beer per ounce, and the price of a hotdog. Seattle and Toronto were ranked one and two respectively.
