One person is dead following a crash in Carbon County. The accident happened Saturday along Route 209 near the Andrewsville Road intersection in Lansford. Authorities say a vehicle traveling north in Lansford entered the right berm and struck a tree. James Carroll has been arrested for allegedly driving under the influence. He was seriously injured. His passenger, Sean Maiden, of Lansford, was killed in the crash.

A 20-year-old man is under arrest in connection to a stabbing in Allentown last Thursday night. Izayah Michael Diaz-Vincent is facing several assault charges for the incident in the 300 block of North Second Street. Police say three victims were assaulted with a "cutting instrument," and a fourth victim was punched in the face. All are expected to survive.

The Monroe County District Attorney's Office is launching a new program to help monitor suicides in the area. The Suicide Fatality Review Program will launch tomorrow and it'll operate similarly as the Overdose Fatality Review Program. 26 people died by suicide in 2023, according to Carbon-Monroe-Pike Mental Health and Developmental Services. Reviews for Carbon and Pike Counties are still being scheduled.

Demolition of the Walnut Street parking garage in Bethlehem resumes today. Last month, there was a partial collapse and Bethlehem residents say that shouldn't have happened and cannot happen again. "I think the demolition that was done so far was done so far was done hap hazardously," one man says. To prevent another accident, the parking authority says there will be additional bracing to support the remaining structure, heavy equipment and barricades utilized.

A state House veterans committee has approved a measure that would help first responders qualify for workers' compensation. The new proposal will allow them to file if they develop mental health challenges because of Post Traumatic Stress Injuries. The House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee approved House Bill 1632 by a vote of 23-2. However, lawmakers say the legislation will likely be amended on the House floor in an attempt to address local officials' cost concerns.

Final preparations are going to be underway this week ahead of the opening of Six Flags Great Adventure. People will be able to start filing through the turnstiles on Saturday as Jackson amusement park begins its 50th anniversary. It was announced over the weekend that popular rides such as Kingda Ka, El Toro, and Nitro will be up and running if the weather cooperates.

Lehigh University is one win away from a highly unlikely trip to the NCAA Basketball Tournament. The Mountain Hawks came back from a 21 point deficit to rally past Boston University 84-79 in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals. That improved Lehigh's record to 14-17. Despite that, if they beat Colgate in the championship game Wednesday night, the Mountain Hawks will be off to the NCAA tournament. Lehigh will have its work cut out for it however. Colgate is 24-9 and won the Patriot League regular season championship.

Another longtime Eagle is calling it a career. Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox announced his retirement yesterday on Instagram. Cox said he gave everything he had to the team and the decision wasn't easy. Philadelphia drafted Cox in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

The Steelers have found their next quarterback. ESPN reports Russell Wilson plans to sign with Pittsburgh when the new league year begins on Wednesday. The Super Bowl winning quarterback will sign a "team-friendly" deal after the Broncos released him last week. Denver is on the hook for $38 million of Wilson's salary next season. Wilson finished last year with 3,070 passing yards to go with 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
