Residents in the Hamilton Crossings area of Lower Macungie Township are on the lookout for a possible mountain lion roaming the area. Police say a person showed them images of a large cat late Sunday morning that may or may not be a mountain lion. This man says he's not scared but cautious. "I didn't even think they were around this area. If I hear something, I'm taking off," he says. The Pennsylvania Game Commission says it has been unable to confirm the type of animal and according to its website, the last known wild eastern mountain lion in Pennsylvania was killed in Berks County back in 1874. In the past 75 years, mountain lions that have appeared in Pennsylvania were formerly exotic pets or show animals.
The Delaware River Joint Toll Commission warns drivers to expect delays on the Easton-Phillipsburg Free Bridge today and tomorrow. The bridge will be restricted to one lane from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. while crews troubleshoot the bridge’s new LED lighting system. The commission is urging New Jersey-bound drivers to take the Route 22 Toll Bridge as an alternate travel route while construction is ongoing.
The House State Government Committee is scheduled to vote tomorrow on legislation that would allow independents to vote in the state's primary elections. House Bill 976 would open up the primaries to independent voters. Under the legislation, they would notify election officials at the polling station which party's primary they want to vote in and would then receive a ballot for that primary. Independent voters also would be free to change which party's primary they want to vote in in each election.

Philadelphia-based Rite Aid has officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The pharmacy chain filed in New Jersey on Sunday. Rite Aid has accessed nearly three-point-five-billion-dollars in new funding as it restructures, and has appointed Jeffrey Stein as its new CEO. Last month, Rite Aid announced it would close hundreds of underperforming stores. The chain also faces more than one thousand lawsuits, alleging it oversupplied opioids and that pharmacists filled thousands of illegal prescriptions.
The Phillies open the National League Championship Series at home tonight against Arizona. Manager Rob Thomson says his lineup will have its hands full with Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen. "He pitches above the zone and he's got a good breaking ball and he throws strikes. When you have that combination, you can be what he is, an all-star pitcher. We started him in the All-Star Game and he's really good," Thomson says. Tonight's first pitch is just after 8 o'clock. Game two is Tuesday night also in Philadelphia.
