There's a very lucky Pennsylvania Lottery player somewhere in the Lehigh Valley. A $3 million scratch-off lottery ticket was sold at Don's Food Market on East Harrison Street in Emmaus, which will get $10,000 for selling the winner. The ticket was part of the $3 Million Mega Stacks, a $30 game that offers up to $3 million. Back in February, a winning Match 6 ticket worth $2.75 million was sold in Stockertown.
LANTA is beginning a two-stage fare restoration process on its 31-day pass, starting Sunday. LANTA says the discount rate offered during the COVID pandemic will gradually end. It will initially be raised to $30, then raised back to the full $60 effective Jan. 1. “The 31-day pass offers unlimited rides from the date of purchase. When fully restored to $60 in January it will reflect the same fare first instituted 11 years ago.” LANTA Executive Director Owen O’Neil said. There are no changes to day passes, and other LANTA fares.
Pennsylvania's State Police Commissioner says his department has seen a spike in applications to the police academy after the state dropped its college credit requirement. Colonel Christopher Paris said in a news release that nearly half of the over 12-hundred applicants would not have been eligible just a month ago. Cadet applicants now are required only to have a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license. They also need to be a state resident and at least 20 years old to apply. Paris says the state is waiving the college degree requirement on a trial basis.
Pennsylvania's senators have offered their thoughts on the passing of California senator Dianne Feinstein. In a statement, John Fetterman said, "Sen. Feinstein was a true trailblazer in American politics who led on issues like gun violence prevention and LGBTQ rights." Bob Casey says, "Today the nation lost a giant in Dianne Feinstein."
