The Northeast Extension will be completely closed in each direction from the Mahoning Valley interchange to the Lehigh Valley interchange. The Turnpike's Kathleen Walter says a bridge above Huckleberry Road in South Whitehall Township will be demolished and replaced, all in the span of 55 hours. She explains how that's possible. "It's a pretty amazing project. The new super structure is actually being built near the existing bridge. This bridge will be slid into place once the old bridge is demolished," Walter says. The closure begins tonight at 9 o'clock and is scheduled to end Monday morning at 4.

A man accused of bribery and conspiracy in a public corruption investigation four years ago is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to hear his case. Scott Allinson, a co-defendant of former Mayor Ed Pawlowski, is asking the Supreme Court to consider that prosecutors failed to show a link that he worked to funnel campaign donations to Pawlowski four years ago. It was alleged that he did so in exchange for promises of legal work. Allinson is out on bail while he appeals.

A Thursday afternoon crash involving two vehicles and an ambulance left a 58-year-old man dead. The crash happened on Route 309 in Lynn Township around 1:30 Thursday afternoon. The Lehigh County coroner says Philip Helman was declared dead at the scene of the crash. Helman was a driver of one of the two cars involved in the crash with the ambulance.

A Freemansburg man is charged with a May 2021 murder in Allentown. 35-year-old Raymond Gourgue allegedly killed Jose Bermudez in the 100 block of North Hall Street. Gourgue is not a stranger to police. He spent time in jail for simple assault and for retaliating against a victim or witness and had been charged with shooting two people at a 2012 party. Those charges were dropped after a witness was murdered.

Firefighters quickly battled a house fire in Allentown Wednesday night in the 1800 block of Washington Street. Crews were called to the scene shortly after 10 p.m., and knocked out the one-alarm fire within 45 minutes.

Leaders at Bethlehem Catholic High School have announced their head football coach has resigned abruptly. Coach Kyle Haas' stepping down came Thursday as he resigned for personal reasons, according to the school. The Golden Hawks are currently 4-3 on the season. They face Parkland this weekend.

It appears the race for Senate in Pennsylvania is getting even tighter. A new poll released by The Trafalgar Group shows John Fetterman and Dr. Mehmet Oz are separated by just two and a half percentage points, within the margin of error. 47.2% of voters surveyed said they would vote for Fetterman; while 44.8% said they would vote for Oz.

A TV series proposed for the Hulu streaming service is reportedly being developed about a deadly fraternity incident at Penn State. The Hollywood Reporter says the series would center on the death of Timothy Piazza, a Penn State student and Beta Theta Pi pledge who died following an alcohol-related hazing in 2017. The case resulted in one of the country's largest prosecutions for fraternity hazing. Piazza's parents told Hollywood Reporter they're fully supportive of the project.

The mother accused in the starvation deaths of her two young daughters in Williamsport has agreed to plead guilty to first-degree murder. 32-year-old Marie Sue Snyder is scheduled to plead guilty Oct. 31 for the deaths of six-year-old Nicole and four-year-old Jasmine Snyder and in a second case in which she is charged with illegally obtaining $48,703 in medical assistance and $21,163 in supplemental nutrition assistant program benefits after her daughters were dead.

New Jersey lawmakers are unveiling new legislation that aims to re-write the states current firearm carry laws. According to officials, the move comes following a U.S. Supreme Court ruling in June that expands gun rights nationwide. There are several changes to the current state standard including banning permitted holders from carrying in schools, child care facilities and other public places such as bars, restaurants, airports and sports and entertainment venues. The legislation also requires permit holders to carry insurance to protect against the accidental firing of a gun. The state's National Rifle Association affiliate says the proposed law closely mimics New York's firearm carry law.

Governor Murphy says he knows bear sightings across New Jersey have increased since eliminating the bear hunt last year. On News 12's "Ask the Governor," a caller from Vernon said she has gone from seeing two to three bears a week to seeing two to three bears each day. The governor admitted there have even been sightings in unexpected parts of the state, like Irvington and Monmouth County. He seems to be re-evaluating getting rid of the bear hunt, saying something will be done, he just hasn't made any final decisions yet.

Game three of the Phillies-Braves series is this afternoon at 4:37. Aaron Nola starts for the Phils and says there's not much mystery between him and Atlanta. "I've seen them a lot. They've seen me a lot. We play each other quite a bit. It comes down to executing my pitches and hopefully I have all of them working," Nola says. The series is tied 1-1. Game four is also in Philadelphia Saturday afternoon.
