A water main break closed a heavily traveled road in Bethlehem. A nearly one-and-a-half mile stretch of Route 378 was closed between Seidersville Road and Broadway due to the water main break, which was reported around 4 o'clock this morning. There is no word on what may have caused the water main break.
There were reports of gunfire in Catasauqua Park Sunday evening. It all started just after 6:30 Sunday evening in the area of the park off of St. John Street. Police were called to the park, but it appears no one was shot. There are reports two people were taken into custody. There's no word on what may have sparked the apparent gunfire.
Part of Easton's Centre Square Renovation Project is set to start today with some one-way streets being converted to two-way. Ferry, Spring Garden and Second Streets downtown will all become two-way roads over the next three weeks. Each section will be closed off ahead of work, and each section is expected to take about a day. The project will begin on Ferry Street between South Fourth and South Third streets.
A person died Saturday after crashing into a fallen tree while riding a motorcycle in Schuylkill County. State police say they responded to a reported crash at Route 443 and Orchard Lane just after 12:30 Saturday morning. They found that a large, rotted tree had fallen across the roadway, blocking both lanes of Route 443.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health says vaccine administrators can start providing the COVID-19 vaccine to young children starting as early as Tuesday. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention approved a Moderna and Pfizer vaccine for children as young as six months old Saturday. The decision came after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized the vaccines for emergency use the day before.
Philadelphia continues to mourn the life of a firefighter who died over the weekend. It all happened during the response to a building fire early Saturday morning. That's when the building collapsed which left several firefighters trapped. Five others were stuck inside before being rushed to a local hospital. Authorities have identified the deceased firefighter as 51-year-old Lieutenant Sean Williamson. At last check, each of the others were in stable condition.
Newark International Airport is one of several airports across the country dealing with an increase in delays and cancellations. www.flightaware.com says 93 flights were canceled Sunday at Newark International Airport from among the 1900 scrapped nationwide. Airline officials blame the cancellations and delays on staffing shortages, surging demand, and inclement weather.
