People wanting a Pfizer COVID-19 booster shot can get it today at the Allentown Fairgrounds Agri-Plex at 1725 West Chew Street. The booster is available to anybody over the age of 65; anybody 50 and older with an underlying medical condition; anybody 18 and older at high risk of severe COVID-19 or who have a job that puts them at increased risk of exposure. To receive a booster shot, you must also be at least six months removed from your second of two Pfizer vaccinations. The booster shot clinic runs from 11-to-4 today. More clinics are scheduled for October 18th and 19th at the Agri-Plex and the 25th and 28th at IBEW on South Seventh Street in Allentown.

The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education is reporting a record percentage drop in enrollment this year. Officials say 12 of the state's 14 universities saw an enrollment decrease this year, contributing to the state's largest decrease in enrollment in more than a decade with 5.4-percent. Last year, during the height of the pandemic, enrollment was down about 3.8-percent. Officials believe the pandemic played a role in the decline, along with the impacts to family income and growing number of students working jobs that are paying $15 to $20 an hour.

Pennsylvania officials are reminding people that the deadline to vote in the November municipal election is October 18. Pennsylvanians can go www.vote.pa.gov to register to vote, check the status of their registration, update existing information and apply for a mail ballot.

Today is the last day for New Jerseyans to register to vote in the upcoming general election. November 2nd is when voters get to decide whether to re-elect Gov. Phil Murphy or give him the boot for his Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli. The two will be going toe-to-toe in their second debate tonight at 8pm.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro is expected to announce a run for governor. Shapiro will reportedly make an official announcement of his candidacy on Wednesday in Pittsburgh. With the announcement, Shapiro would become the first Democrat so far to enter the 2022 governor's race in Pennsylvania. Democrat Gov. Tom Wolf cannot run again for reelection next year.

Deer hunting's rifle season isn't far off, but will there be enough ammunition for hunters? Patrick Connaghan owns a Harrisburg-area gun store and says the answer is maybe, or maybe not and he recommends you not be too picky on the bullets you use this fall. "If you see your caliber and it's close to what you're currently shooting, my suggestion is you buy it," Connaghan says. He predicts ammunition shortages could remain for another year or two.

It appears that the long standing saga between Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers could be coming to an end. ESPN reports that Simmons arrived in town last night and took a COVID-19 test. Simmons has been fined for missing each preseason game to date and more than $8 million for his absence from training camp. The all-star previously requested a trade at the end of last season but it's unclear what the team will do with him moving forward.
