One person is dead after a Monday night crash in Whitehall Township. It happened last night around 7:30 when a pickup truck and car crashed at the intersection of Roosevelt and Second streets. The accident scene was completely shut down for several hours but reopened overnight.

The price of water is about to go up for people living in and around Allentown. The Lehigh County Authority Board announced Monday it has adopted new rates for 2020 that affect the city and suburban division customers. Water and sewer rates will increase 4.1 percent for city residential customers but when new regulations from the state Department of Environmental Protection are factored in, city customers will be hit with a 5.5 percent rate hike. Water rates will go up 4.9 percent for suburban residential customers.

Police in Northampton County are looking for the man behind a backpack theft in Palmer Township. The suspect smashed in the window of a car parked on Fox Hill Road Friday night and then took the backpack, which contained the victim's personal IDs, wallet, cash and credit cards. The man then went to a Walmart and made purchases with the stolen credit cards.

Beginning in February, travelers will have a new option at Lehigh Valley International Airport. Allegiant says beginning February 13th it will offer nonstop service from LVIA to the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. Allegiant will fly to eight cities from the Lehigh Valley once the new route begins and it will give LVIA a 14th non-stop destination. Allegiant is offering a one-way fare as low as $65 for the next 24 hours. The new seasonal flights will operate twice weekly.

We started the day in the mid-50s but beginning tonight into tomorrow will feel more like January. "It's going to be a frigid day. The record low is 18 and we're going to be right on the doorstep of that tonight and only recover to 34 degrees during the day tomorrow," says Accu-Weather's Heather Zehr. She says the Poconos could expect maybe a coating to an inch of snow today with only snow flurries likely in the Lehigh Valley.

Believe it or not, ski season arrives this weekend. Blue Mountain in Palmerton expects to open the 2019-2020 ski season this Saturday with five trails and two lifts. It would be the earliest opening in Blue Mountain's 42-year history. Big Boulder also plans to open up at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon with two trails and two lifts. Elsewhere, snowmaking is either already underway or set to begin at several other area ski resorts.

Crews battled a building fire in Warren County, New Jersey late last night. The fire began around 11:45 p.m. on West Washington Avenue in Washington, New Jersey and damaged both the TNT Laundry Center and a Sherwin-Williams paint store. Authorities have not said what may have caused the fire or if anyone was injured.

The Philadelphia Eagles are making guard Brandon Brooks the highest-paid player at his position. The two sides agreed yesterday on a four-year, $56 million contract extension with $30 million guaranteed. The 30-year-old came to the Eagles in 2016.
