10 people were shot early this morning in the 300 block of Hamilton Street in Allentown. Police believe most, if not all, of the victims had just left the DejaVu nightclub when they were shot while on the sidewalk. It appears all of the shooting victms are expected to survive.

A year-and-a-half after the death of a newborn boy, Lehigh County DA Jim Martin has charged the baby's mother in the death. "Ashley Caraballo has been charged with one count of criminal homicide, concealing the death of a child and abuse of corpse," Martin says. The DA alleges says Caraballo gave birth to the baby in October 2017 and soon after showed up at St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown with medical issues consistent with having just delivered a baby. State police began an investigation, which included a search of Caraballo's home on Mauser Street in North Whitehall Township. "During our search, a deceased male body was found wrapped in a sheet in a backpack. The backpack was discovered inside a five-gallon paint can that was located in a storage area in the basement of the residence," says Martin. Examination of the body indicated the child was born alive and died from one or a combination of asphyxia, blood loss or hypothermia. Caraballo is in Lehigh County Jail without bail.

After serving as Muhlenberg College president for the past four years, John Williams Jr. has resigned. Muhlenberg isn't giving a reason why the 65-year-old Williams is leaving. He replaced Randy Helm at Muhlenberg in July 2015. The Morning Call reports Provost Kathleen Harring has been appointed as interim president. Harring has been at Muhlenberg since 1984 and became provost two years ago.

Police in Northampton County are looking for the person or persons behind a daytime burglary in Hellertown. Police say the break-in occurred Wednesday at a Leithsville Road home and the thieves took three rifles, three handguns and two rings after ransacking the house. Police in Springfield Township are also investigating two burglaries that may be related to the break-in in Hellertown.

A Schuylkill County man is going to spend the rest of his life behind bars for killing his wife in front of their daughter. Robert Bailey was found guilty Wednesday of first and third-degree murder for killing Diane Bailey. He was then sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Their daughter testified she saw her father stab her mother 27 times at their Tamaqua home in November 2017.

Juneteenth is being permanently recognized in Pennsylvania. Gov. Tom Wolf signed legislation Wednesday designating the 19th of June as Juneteenth National Freedom Day, commemorating the emancipation of black people enslaved in the United States. While the Emancipation Proclamation ended slavery in the South in 1863, it couldn't be enforced until the Civil War ended in 1865.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy is expected to be in South Jersey this morning to sign Sami's Law into effect. The law will require ridesharing companies to display identifying markers, which must be reflective or illuminated. Sami's Law is named after the late Samantha Josephson, a New Jersey resident who was murdered in South Carolina back in March when she entered what she an Uber.
