A review of DNA taken from the clothing of a woman raped eight years ago along a Bethlehem tow path has been matched to a man in jail in the southwest. Charges were filed Tuesday against Justo Garcia, who's currently being held in a New Mexico jail. Twelve counts related to the May 2011 rape have been filed against Garcia, who at the time of the crime lived in Bethlehem. The victim was jogging near River Street at the time of the attack, when a man grabbed her, held a knife to her and forced her into nearby brush where the sexual assault then took place.
A 19-year-old Catasauqua man is accused of slashing the tires of a SUV and then its owner Sunday night. Police say a woman saw Michael Carter slash the tires of her family's SUV outside their North Catasauqua home. The woman's husband ran outside and chased after the man. When he caught Carter, Carter allegedly slashed the man in the hand. The man was able to disarm and subdue Carter and then waited for police to arrive. Carter was sent to Northampton County Jail under $20,000 bail.

"Many times these machines are placed next to a lottery machine to mislead the public into thinking that these machines are actually lottery machines. They are gambling devices. They are illegal gambling devices," Tomlinson says. Pennsylvania Lottery officials say they believe they've lost about $138 million in sales over the past year.
The state Office of Attorney General is saying a drug take-back event held during the Pocono 400 brought in big results. According to Attorney General Josh Shapiro, guests disposed of 78 pounds of unused or outdated prescription drugs in just two days during the race weekend at Pocono Raceway. The take back ended up totaling more than the last two Pocono take-backs combined. If you have unwanted drugs but missed the opportunity last weekend, you can do it again at the Gander RV 400, taking place at Pocono Raceway on July 27th and 28th.
Vice President Mike Pence is planning to be in attendance for the Republican Party of Pennsylvania's State Dinner tomorrow. The dinner is happening at the Radisson Hotel Harrisburg Thursday evening. Earlier in the day, Pence will tour JLS Automation in York County. He will reportedly talk to employees about the U.S-Mexico-Canada Agreement and its impact on Pennsylvania.
Eleven New Jersey nursing homes are on a list that includes the 400 facilities considered candidates to have the worst care records in the country. A report this week focused on what it calls poor care in American nursing homes. The report identifies facilities that are alleged to have exhibited signs of neglect, physical abuse, sexual assault and poor care that has led to premature death. The list of facilities where poor care has allegedly occurred was provided by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services agency.
Before beating the Padres Tuesday night, the Phillies found out starting left fielder Andrew McCutchen will miss the remainder of the season after tearing knee ligaments in Monday night's game. Manager Gabe Kapler says it's a loss on and off the field. "It's really disappointing. Andrew has not only been a catalyst at the top of our lineup, but a catalyst in our clubhouse," Kapler says. McCutchen was hitting .256 with 10 home runs this season.
