Police in South Whitehall Township are trying to figure out how and why a man suffering from several gunshot wounds was found near Dorney Park. Police say the victim was discovered early Monday near Haines Mill Road and Hamilton Boulevard, but they say the man was shot somewhere else then dumped where he was located. Despite being shot several times in the abdomen, the victim is being treated at Lehigh Valley Hospital for what are described as non-life-threatening injuries. The victim hasn't been able to give many details to police at this point and investigators are asking anyone with details to reach out to South Whitehall Township detectives.
Police are investigating a shooting on the streets of Allentown that left one man injured. Police say the male victim was shot in the stomach Monday near 14th and Liberty streets following some kind of argument. The shooter fled the scene in a car and investigators are still not sure how the incident unfolded. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information to call the Allentown PD.
Property taxes have gone up in the Bethlehem Area School District every one of the past 25 years. However, that apparently will change this year. The district is recommending borrowing money from a district balance rather than increase taxes to pay off a $1.6 million deficit included in a proposed $290 million budget. The school board will vote on the budget next Monday with a final vote planned for June 17th.
Police in Bethlehem are investigating after one person was injured when a school bus collided with another vehicle Monday afternoon. The accident happened around 2:30 in the 1100 block of Hellertown Road. The bus was not transporting any students at the time of the crash. The Bethleheam School District says the bus was not one of theirs.
Pocono Mountain Regional Police are investigating a weekend hit-and-run that left a New York City man dead. John Walpole was killed after being hit by a van while walking along Route 611 near the five-points intersection in Mount Pocono. Police Chief Chris Wagner says they're looking for a dark grey Toyota Siena minivan that almost certainly has damage. "It would have damage to the passenger-side head lamp, the passenger-side mirror and possibly the windshield," Wagner says. The accident happened around 10 o'clock Saturday night.
A rally is planned today at the State Capitol to advocate for raising the minimum age to buy tobacco products. It's expected around 650 members of the Tobacco 21 Movement will be in attendance asking lawmakers to raise the sales age from 18 to 21.
The names of more than 300 New Jersey-based clergy members accused of sexual misconduct is now public knowledge. The Minnesota-based law firm Jeff Anderson and Associates released a list Monday containing the names of priests, deacons and brothers as part of a lawsuit filed by a man alleging the defendants continued to conceal sexual crimes committed by accused priests, as well as several other related complaints.
